Better Breakfasts

Why Eat Breakfast?

  • People who eat breakfast can do more work in the late morning hours.
  • People who eat breakfast have a faster reaction time.
  • People who eat breakfast do not tire so quickly.
  • People who eat breakfast usually have a more balanced diet and eat fewer snack foods.
  • What Makes a Good Breakfast?
    Try to Include:

    1. Fruit or fruit juice
    2. A protein source such as eggs, meat, cheese, or cereal with milk.
    3. Bread or cereal such as enriched or whole grain bread, cereal, waffles, or pancakes.
    4. Milk-especially for children and teenagers.

    Are Children Making the Grade?
    Many children go to school hungry every day. Eating breakfast can help your child:

    1. Concentrate better in school.
    2. Improve test scores.
    3. Have energy to get through the morning.
    4. Control body weight.
    5. Prevent hunger.
    6. Practice good eating habits that can last a lifetime.
